Churchill's Breakfast Cocktail

Churchill Breakfast Cocktail
This cocktail is a tribute to Winston Churchill, who in 1954 wrote his own menu on his last flight to the USA as Prime Minister which included, poached egg, toast, whisky and a cigar. While we aren't one to choose a cigar with our breakfast, smoked cinnamon, coffee, rye and maple syrup would satisfy even Mr. Churchill. Perfectly balanced, this cocktail is a great addition to any brunch!

Churchill Breakfast Cocktail

INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 oz rye

1/2 oz cold brew coffee

1/4 oz maple syrup

1 dash 1889 Aromatic Bitters

1 cinnamon stick

INSTRUCTIONS:

Using a blow torch, lighter, or gas range light one end of the cinnamon stick on fire. Set chilled coupe glass face down on top of smoking cinnamon stick to allow smoke to ring the inside of the glass. This will provide a deep, savory flavor to the cocktail.

Smoked Cinnamon

Combine all other ingredients and shake with ice. Strain into the coupe glass and garnish with the cinnamon "cigar".
